Haven't made this in a while. Daddy really loves this. Also loves the caramel frosting on a chocolate cake, Maybe you would like the recipe as well.
1 Spice Cake
Follow box directions but replace the vegetable oil with Applesauce. (maybe cinnamon flavored)
Bake as directed.
Caramel Penuche Frosting
1 stick of butter
1 c. Brown Sugar
1/3c milk
confectioner's sugar
1 tsp vanilla
1. Bring to boil in a 4 qt glass (microwave ok, but watch closely)
2. Add milk. Boil again 1 minute in micro
3. Cool Slightly
4. Beat in confectioner's sugar until nice to spread.
5. Spread on cake quickly; it gets firm as it cools.
6. If too stiff add drops of hot water.
7. Enjoy.
